Born in 1970, in the Department of Treinta y Tres, Uruguay, Verónica Vázquez studied Drawing, Painting, Sculpting, Engraving, Ceramics, Tapestry and History of Art. Although Vázquez likes to think of herself as a self-taught artist, she concedes that a series of adventitious courses and workshops played a key role in her training process amidst the exploration of her own artistic vision.

She frenqueted the Fundación Pablo Atchugarry where she met the sculptor Pablo Atchugarry. This experience allowed her to meet masters such as Octavio Podesta, Henrique Broglia, and Miguel Angel Battegazzore, important gures of Uruguayan art. She pursued further pottery studies in Buenos Aires, with potter Jorge Fernández Chiti. Role models for Verónica are Jorge Oteiza, Eduardo Chillida, Germán Cabrera, and above all, Richard Serra.

Recent monographic exhibition include; Efrain Lopez Gallery in Chicago (2017-18); Marignana Arte in Venice (2017); Museo Nacional Artes Visuales in Montevideo (2016-17), Museo della Commenda di Pre in Geona (2016) and Piero Atchugarry Gallery in Garzón (2015).

Her artworks are in private collections in Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the United States, as well as public collections such as the Buckhorn Sculpture Park, USA; the Fundación Pablo Atchugarry, Uruguay; Museo Nacional Artes Visuales, Uruguay.
