All things to which we are, or will be connected are metaphorically represented in my work as red thread. I chose red thread because of a Japanese myth that believes that everyone you will ever meet or be helped by in your life is connected to you by an invisible red thread. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break.
This work is about existing in two different worlds simultaneously. Though I am from the United States, I have spent many years living and working in the United Arab Emirates and I feel that I am of two different cultures and places at the same time.
The quantum theory of the Multiverse states that as soon as a potential exists for any object to be in any state, the universe of that object transmutes into a series of parallel universes equal to the number of possible states in which that the object can exist, with each universe containing a unique single possible state of that object. Furthermore, there is a mechanism for interaction between these universes that somehow permits all states to be accessible in some way and for all possible states to be affected in some manner.
Thus, my work is about the interaction between my personal multiverses and their potential states.
