Peace, 2018
Reinhard Schell’s work “Peace” deals with a since dawn of mankind current topic. His peace dove made of construction steel and barbed wire, as it was used in the battlefronts especially of the First World War – also in the Dolomites, is situated on a pedestal in cube shape.
Opposite the figure hangs a birdcage, mounted on a metal structure. In the entrance of the exhibition room, vertical metal bars are fixed on the floor. Inside or outside, outside or inside – that’s a matter of opinion.
The exhibition space is illuminated with red light like alpenglow or like firelight.

BIOGRAPHY
Reinhard Schell was born in Austria, 1971, but lives and works in both Austria and Brazil. A member of the Association of Artists Potiguares, he works with painting, sculpture and installation art. The artist has held exhibitions in Brazil, Austria and Italy and participated in the “1st. Venice Triennale – In the Name of Freedom in the Art” in Venice Palazzo Albrizzi in 2015. Many of his works deal with his theme “1+1=1”. In “1+1=1”, two bodies or forms merge and become one. These works intend to guide its audience towards reflecting on how art not only knows no borders, but can also overcome even the axiomatic laws of mathematics.
Reinhard Schell has public works in Brazil, held by the Municipality of Rio Grande do Norte and the Pinacoteca (state-run art gallery), of the same State. In Austria, his cast-aluminium sculptures can be found in the city of Spittal an der Drau, and with “Morgenstern Eagle“ (“Morgenstern Adler“), sculpture in honor of Thomas Morgenstern, who is the Olympic champion in ski-jumping in the town of Seeboden.
